In 1988, I met Pucci on the occasion of an exhibition where he was presenting – to use a modern expression – « customized » household objects : that is way off their original models.
It was a shock for me, as it was not a piece of furniture anymore, its original use was
completely topsy- turvy. All the signs of Pucci’s uniqueness were there : humour, discrepency, infringement, concept : the artist’s own touch.
Pucci is a doer. Behind the glass of his Paris studio, one wonders what he is handcrafting. We are all the happier to present his new exhibition, as he is reluctant to entrust others with his projects. It is a team work.
For the lead covered pieces, the Cat-Berro studio designed the skeleton and Pucci created the engraved skin.
For « Giorgio » and »Déjà Vu », Cat-Berro strove alone, while Pucci concentrated on
lacemaking. Pucci is secretive, volubile, attentive, finicky. He wears elaborate headgears. He is Italian, speaks French, using carefully chosen expressions and cooks pastas beautifully ! Pucci is an artist, a sculptor.
